FOOTBALL.
THE OPUNAKE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Opunakc Football Club was held on Saturday evening. Mr. D. O'Sullivan presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted as read. The chairman regretted that the club had lost three good players who had gone to the front. He wished them God-speed and a safe return, and doubted not that they would prove as good soldiers as they had footballers. He also asked the club to place on record their appreciation of Mr. A'C'ourt Opic's services to the club.during the past seasons, and he asked those present to join with him in wishing Mr. Opie every success in his new sphere of work. Both motions were carried with acclamation. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. J. Biennan; president, Mr. R. P. Malcolm; vice-presi-dents, Eight Hon. W. Massey, Prime Minister, Mr. C. A. Wilkin?™, M.P., Rev. Father Harnett. Rev. Messrs. Welsh, Tinsley, and Stent, Messrs. D. Ross, E. B. Stohr, J. Young, D- Evans, A'Court Opie, W. J. Knell, C. Sorrenson, P. Cornish, Des Forges, .1. Mildcnhal!, TV". Lamhie, E. Brunette, G. Hammond, W. Blyth; club captain, Mr. D. O'Sullivan; coaches, Messrs. Stohr and Silvester; delegate, Mr. E. B. Stohr; selection committee, Messrs V>'. Rowlands, O'Sullivan and WallU; general committee, Messrs. Rowlands, O'Sullivan, Wallis, Harrigan, and Knell; secre ary and treasurer, Mr. W. Xorris. The following new members were elected:—Messrs. narrigan, Hickey, Coe, Short, O'Neil, Sullivan, Barlow, FenKnell; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Norris. It was decided to enter two teams for the competitions, senior and junior.
