The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: On Tuesday, April Oth, wo held o.ir usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford Yards. We had a small yarding of c ;tr.le and 935 sheep. Several lines advertised did not coine forward, no doubt owing to the holidays. There was a good demand, more especially for slice]), and a fair clearance was effected, at the following prices:—Fat cows ;C(I 10s to .-CI; htore cows £4 lis to £5 3s; small and poor (ils to 70s; yearling steers (nice line) .'ills (Id. 2-year steers 73s (Id to 8'l>; wuwer heifers 15s to 2(ls; mixed weaners up to 2!)s (id; f.m. ewes (fair quality) from IGs to 17s !)d; f.m. ewes (poor) Hs to 10s <ld; nicdium ewes 14s 4d to 15s sd; fat and forward lambs 12s (id to 13s 9d; rape lambs, in good demard, (small) 7s to 8s lOd. fair lines Ob 9d to Us 3d; Komney rams 3gns.; Lincoln rams 20s. Our next Stratford sale will be held on April 20tli, 1915, ! On Thursday April Bth, we held a clearing sale on .account of Mr. Alexar.d-! cr Watt, who has Sold his farm at Taramauku, near Tarata. The attendance was very large, and all the stock and sundries—o3 lots—were in good order and , realised full to high prices under u;\y keen competition for most linos. Stock was keenly competed for as follows: — Cull lambs 5s (Id; rape lambs 12s Gd-. flock ewes with rams 20s od;' rams lgn. l.}gns.; goats 10s; pigs 30s; wethers 19s 0d; heifers in calf £G. mixed weaners 20s; cows and calves 07s; 15-month heifers s(is; store cows 955; bullocks (2-ycar-old) £6 6s. On Tuesday, April 13tli, we held our usual monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, etc. AVe had a fair catalogue of 77. packages wool and 425 slieepski'.is, etc. There was an average attendance, and competition was keen, more especially for good lines. Pelts: Inferior Pd; short-woolled 2s 4d to 3s Id; medium 3s Od to 3s lOd. Fair-woolled skins 5s 3d to (is sd; good-woolled 7s to 8s Id; fnll-woolled from 10s lOd to lis Od for a line from a Pohekura client. Lamb skins is lOd to 2s lOd; Butchers' salted pelts 3s Od to 4s. Crossbred fleece bidi bidi 0i to BJd; stained and-seedy from 9d to l()d; fan fleeced 10} d to 11 Id; lambs seedy BJd to 9d. fair staple lambs but dingy lOd to Is; pieces short and heavy 4d to sd; fair quality pieces SUI to OJd; medium piocis but seedy 5Jd to crutchings from 7d to Bjd; horse hair mixed Is OJd; hides cow light (no butchers) 6gd to 7sd; damaged Od to GAd; inferior 4jj; yearling 7d to 74d; calfskins 9d_to Md; inferior Gid to Bd. Tallow in tins, inferior quality, a little dirty, 22s to 22s 3d. Our next sale will be held on May 4th, 1915.
