WEST END WINS THE BANNER. THE FINALS AT INGLEWOOD. West End Club, the youngest cf the New Plymouth bowling clubs, lias had its full share of honors in the last year or two. Last year the club tied with New Plymouth in the northern division of the banner competition, but lost m the play-off. During the present season the elub won the New Plymouth and suburban clubs New Year tournafflcnt find the Wangamii. Association's tournament and provided tho ruun«-up in tho Taranaki champion of champions singles competition. Yesterday these consistent bowlers crowned their preyi- ! ous successes by annexing the Taranaki Centre s banner for the year, defeating the redoubtable Pihama and Hawera Clubs m the division finals on the InWe. wood green. Tho morning match resulted m a runaway victory over Pihama by P°">ts to 30, a feat which was as unexpected a3 it was surprising. Tho teams got a "'steadier" in the openin" stages of the match against Hawera in the afternoon, the southerners leadiii" by ton points after the first four or five heads. This handicap was caught up before the tea adjournment, but at that time Hawera was again three points to the good. The West Endors played better thereafter, and at the close of the had 72 points to Hawora's 03 the winning bowl being played amidst considerable enthusiasm.

llie banner was presented to tho victors by the president of the Taranaki Centre, Mr. W. ,T. Penn, who hcartiiv congratulated them on their win. Thanks wore tendered to the Inglewood club for the use of tho green, and the club was complimented upon its condition.

Messrs W. A. Parkinson (Hawera) ar.d Conaglen (Pihama) also extended their congratulations.
