THB STAR CLUB. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. There was a good attendance of mern. bera at the annual general nieoting of tlie Star Football Club, which wan held at the Borough Chambers last evening. 11" J Clarke presided. The balance-sheet showed a credit M'.ance of £1 6s lOd. The annual report expressed regret in having to refer to the need of playing members meeting their financial obligations to the club, their failure to do so being mainly responsible for the unr'inancial position. Members should, if they wished to soo thoir club achieve any ' success, come forward with their subscriptions. The honor of the club must be kept up, and this was the only way to do it. Ilad it not been for an increase in the , gate receipts matters would, perhaps, not have been so rosy. The past season was anything but brilliant, not one team scoring a win, but with a little more energy on the part of the members in general the club might easily become as strong as it was in previous years. The club possessed some very promising young players, and it was the duty of all old members to come forward and create a little more interf-st. If this was not very soon done the club, which was once the .strongest in Tnranaki. would become defunct. It was hoped that the older members would take a lesson from last season, and trv to make a success of,the ensuing o>io. The club was proud to know that several of its members wero serving with the colors in the defence of the Motherland against attacks of her enemies. The report and balance sheet were adopted unanimously. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. E. Dockrill; dents, Messrs F. Richards, J. Arthur, ]). Penwarden, S. Smith. R. Cock, S. Mr. Preece was appointed to take charge of the Thursday teams, and Mr, Inch the Saturday teams. On the motion ofn the chairman, seconded by Mr. Inch, the secretary was instructed to forward to the Taranaki Rugby Union a list of last year's unfinaneial members who were row playing for other clubs.
