FOOTBALL IN EGYPT. Mr \\. W. Hill, secretary of the Now South Wales Rugby Union, has received tlr t'p'ii -viiii: letter from nis brother. Mr George Hill, who is a- member of tlu AiVitraiiau o.i.tingcnt at present in Fg-ypl:--VooH-a!l is occasionally played here—that is, when the different unir.s can get together a full and representative side. They play two brands !t::c, and I think the Association has the greater grip, owing, no doubt, to the presence of territorials. The native* also play it very well. However, -Jia Rugby game is flourishing, and eaci unit possesses names that arc we'd known in the mother State. The New South Wales Brigade and its attached units have been playing inter-brigade and inter-unit matches. From these the A.M.C. has emerged victorious, with an unbeaten record. The games are played en beautiful flat grassed land at the foot of the famous Cheops 'Pyramid, and our mutual friend, Tom Richards, i as added a' further country to the already long list in which he has played the game which is so world-wide. Playing the game he loves more than anythi.i;* '•!:-c under the shadow of the Pyramid, the forty centuries monument appealed to his poetic fancies. We are now on our mettle, and have, received many challenges. From the New Zealand imjitiugont, sporting many representative players, we have heard nothing owing to their having been sent to the tin*-/. Canal, but before they went, there w.vi talk of a game between New Solicit Wale's and New Zealand under Rugby I Union rules. We are also well rapv.pI ped with the necessary to indulge ui an occasional swim. We are forbidd-'ii to swim in the Nile, or any pool which has not been passed by our doctor-;. The presence of a minute worm in lie: j water is the deterrent factor." j =====
