CRICKET.

A proposal is on foot to amalgamate the two associations in Taranaki, and such a. move would undoubtedi-- bo for the best interests of Taranaki cricket. Whatever troubles may have occurred in the past should be treated as ancient history and be forgotten. There is no reason whatever why cricket should not be run on the same lines as football — divide the whole province into divisions, with a management committee equally {representative of each division, and with headquarters at a central place, say Stratford, Inglewood or Eltliam. wherever a good secretary was available, for on the appointment of a good secretary would depend the success or failure of the whole, scheme. Taranaki should then be able to put a strong representative team in the field. Cricket for this season is now uraetically at an end. There are some matches in the .Thursday competition yet to complete but it is questionable if weather and other circumstances will permit of their completion. A match between Phoenix and' Inglewood would create considerable interest. 4

Cricketers will regret to hear of the illness of E. Whittle, one of the veterans of the game in Taranaki. and a keen sport. One and all will wish him a speedy return to good health.
