WASHED OYERBOAED.
By Telegraph.—Proas Association. Invereargill, April J. Gordon Trail, aged lit, was washed overboard from the cutter Rakhira in Foveaux Straits on Tuesday afternoon. Deceased was a splendid .swimmer, lmt the heavy gale and high seas made rescue impossible.
DEATH FROM EXHAUSTION. Ohakune, April < T . A man named Rocket, a schoolteacher at Valley Road, near Raetihi, died fioi-i exhaustion while on a moiintaineeit.ig trip on Ruapehu. No further details are yet available.
KILLED ON A LIFT.
Auckland, Last Night. Mr. Ctitton, S..\f., giving his reserved decision in the inquest on the bodv of Margaret Dewcs, killed by the sudden dropping of a lift in llobson Buildings, found that the accident wag due to the neglect of Henry Renner, lift attendant, aged seventeen, to place the control .lever at neutral position when he opened the door to allow deceased to alight. Tlie employment of this boy was a breach of the Act, but there was no evidence that any 'person guilty of such a degree of negligence could be found guilty of manslaughter.
MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. Napier, Last Night. A collision between a motor-cvcle ami a trap in Munroc Street early this even."iff resulted in the death of the rider of the cycle, who sustained severe injurv over the right breast and expired on the way to the hospital. T'le victim's name is not definitely known, but a letter found in his possession bore the name of Bodkins, lie is a middle-aged man.
A SHOOTING- AFFAIR. Dimcdin, a'st Night. Frank MacDonnell, a dairy fanner residing at Sawyer's Bay,-was found bv his wife earlv tliis morning lying at the back of tire house with a bullet wound in his forehead. He was removed to the Dimcdin Hospital. MacDonnell, who has been dairy farming at SawWur's 'Bay for four or five months, had a milk .'run in Port Chalmers.
SMALL BOY INJURED. Christchureh, Last Night. John Crowley, seven years of age, was knocked down by a taxi-cab in Manchester Street to-night and sustained a fractured skull. His condition is serious.
A CLERKS SUICIDE.
Auckland, Last Night. John Richard Wynyard, aged 30 years, a clerk Iby occupation, committed suicide by cutting his tbroat' with a razor at Devonport, where he resided. Deceased was depressed owing to the fact that he had been out of work since Christmas.
