The court in New York lias appointed Mr. Franklin, vice-pro«ldcnt of the Intornat.ion Mercantile Marine Company, receiver for the company. It is understood that this is merely a preliminary !o. wards reorganisation. The Mercantile Marine Company holds all the shares in the White Star Line, and is largely interested in other Atlantic companies.
