FOR IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT.
NEW ZEALAND'S POSITION.

The Prime Minister lias received' enquiries from Australia as to what New Zealand is doing in regard to the shipment of frozen meat consigned to the Imperial f.'overnment. In reply, lie sent the following particulars to Mr. Mawson, the Xew Zealand Agent ia Melbourne:—
''Ruahine, Matatua and Tainui have already been despatched, carrying 15,000 quarters of beef, 35,020 carcases of mutton, 55,005 carcases of mixed mutton and lamb, and 70,031 carcases oflamb. Six steamers, now loading, will sail this month, carrying 521,200 freight of carcases, of which the following i s already loaded: 37,092 quarters of beef, 06,908 carcases of mutton, and 140.327 carcases of lamb. The meat now in store is estimated at one and thecc-quEirter million carcases."
"1 anticipate that we will be able to keep the supply for the Imperial Government going all through the winter " said Mr. Masscv.
