GOLF.
THE WITIOKA CLUB,
The Witiora Golf Club had an auspicious opening of the season yesterday. The greens and fairway were found by the players to be in excellent order for the opening foursome, which was won by Mrs. Kirby and O'Callaghan, the next places being filled by Miss Uawke and Bullot, Miss Goldwater and Young, .Mis; Bennett and Baton, Mrs. Buxton and Chong. The opening ceremony was performed, in the absence of the president (Mr. A. Standish), by the- vice-president (Mr. O'Callaghan), who mi ntioned the increasing membership and bright prospects of thc club. The attendance included several members of the Tarahua Club and a sprinkling of the general public.
