DE WET'S TRIAL. STRONG RACIAL SENTIMENT. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, March 10. At the trial of Uc Wet Bloemfontein courthouse was thronged, many of the audience apparently sympathising with the rebels. Evidence was given that T)e Wet was strongly influenced by racial sentiment which was restrained for years. He was the eatspaw of Ilertzog. When General Botha asked Mr Steyn to use his influence to prevent the rebellion Mr Steyn sent Ilertzog with an appeal to IX- Wet. The hatter's reply was that General Botha must resign and agree to the proclamation of a republic.
