SWIMMING.
The two Ilawaiians Kahanamoku and T. Cunlia, are still swimming in good form. Last Saturday at the Calliope Dock Carnival (Auckland) Kahanamoku lowered tlip world's record for fifty .ards put up by him at "Frisco in 1913 by four-fifths of a second, his time being 22,3-5. C.'unlia, who received Ssecs start from the champion won this event in '2f>secs.
It is a great pity that the seating accommodation at the local baths would not permit of the kval club arranging ! for a visit of these two fine swimmers, as an event like this would hare done a lot to promote interest in swimming, which seems to be a bit lacking this year. On Sunday morning at 10 o'clock the McAllum Cup Relay fiace between the East and West End teams will take place at the baths. East team: Jackson, Whittaker, Winter, Hargraves, Bridge, Brown, and Gray. West End team: J. Stolir, A. V. Stohr, MeAUum, Bacon, Bowie, Early, and Standisli. Keen interest is being taken in the Life Saving Shield Competition, which comes off at the East End on Easter Monday. There will be about five teams competing, and members are getting in solid training on the East and West End beaches and each end is confident of winding the shield. The High School, however, will take a lot of beating. There will be life saving club practices on both beaches on Sunday afternoon at 2.30.
