GOLF.

Much interest is being shown locally in this popular winter sport. The three New Plymouth clubs have held their annual meetings and the links are reported to be in excellent playing order. Programmes of play are being arranged and enthusiasts are busy with their outfits.' In other parts of the province arrangements are in hand for a good season's play. Good entries are expected for the New Plymouth club's annual tournament, which is to be held on the Ngamotu links at Easter. The club is making complete arrangements and is effecting considerable improvements to the links:

INGLEWOOD CLUB. At the annual general meeting of the Ingiewood Club the past season was voted a most successful- one. The expenditure was extraordinary -on account of the extensive additions to and painting of the pavilion these improvements greatly increasing the club assets. Two resignations were received from members having left the town, and on the other hand several i>-.-w members were elected. Officers for the ensuing season were elected as follows:—President, Mr. 11. J. M. Thomson; club captain, Mr. 11. J. M. Thomson; lion secretary, Mr. A. E. Surrey; lion, treasurer, Mr. C. R. O'C'arroll; general committee, tlie above and Messrs F. H. Brown and W. Hogg; handicapping and match committee, Messrs Thomson, Brown and Hogg. Tlie committee were instructed to deal with the question of registration of members' marks.on bulls and to procure a machine for this purpose. Mr. C. Locke, golf professional for Taranaki, will be in attendance at Ingiewood for three separate weeks during the season. The links were declared open from now, but the official opening ceremony will not take plaee till April 15, when a mixed foursome competition will be held.
