DISTRICT NEWS.

TARIKI. (From our Own CorresjKindent.) The committee of the Tariki Horticultural Society are sparing no efforts to make the forthcoming show, which is to be held next Thursday, a big success. The object for which the show is being run, viz., the British Red Cross Fund, is indeed a worthy one which should appeal to everyone, and the committee can look forward with confidence to the hearty support of the public. There is no charge for entries, and Mr H. Rumball, the lion, secretary, informs ;iv; that he is expecting very large entries in all sections. The committee intend making the gift stand a prominent feature of the show though they are at present somewhat at loss what space to allot for it. A number of handsome donations have already been made, and doubtless there are many other-; to come in before show day. Exhibitors who wish to donate anv of their exhibits will he provided with cards to place on them after judging. These ami articles on the gift stall will be sold by aeution. Amongst other things to be auctions! will be the pick of one out of .1 line of seven 20-mnnths old heifers. As these arc a very choice line of high grade Jerseys, bred by a well-known iocal breeder, this lot should occasion some brisk bidding. Mr T. Lnmisen. of Stratford, will act as auctioneer.' Mr T. Therkleson's splendid collection of specimen of African curios will be exhibited in 0710 of the ante-rooms, anil T hear that Mr Tlierkleson intends adding other items of interest, which, though not directly concerned with horticulture are calculated to prove verv attractive to visitors to the show. The ladies' committee, I hear, arc very busy, nnd visitors may rely on getting full value in the afternoon tea and supper room. The necvetary (Mr H. Rumball) will have much pleasure in acknowledging donations fcr the gift stand which should teach the Kail not later than I, 4 , a.m. on the dny cf tlie show.
