General Banardiston, commanding the British at Tsing-tao, expr,;sses~liis admiration of the Japanese. He says: "They have an excellent fighting machine, well disciplined, and possessing ample initiative. The Japanese, too, have tlie greatest possible admiration for Britain, and realise that as long as Japan and England arc friends there will be peace in the Far East. That's what they want." CHINA "KOW-TOWS" TO' GERMANY. (Times and Sydney/ Sun Services.) Received March 18, 5.15 p.m. London, March IS. Le. TVtit Parisien declares that China is kow-towing to Germany, and that Japan is taking military measures and precautions.
