F((iir men—Lynch, Short, Fuller and Burke—acquitted at the late session of the Suprcniy Court of conspiring to defraud a Maori by card-playing in the train, were found guilty by the Magistrate on a charge of gambling on the" railway. Fuller and Short were each fmed toO, or three months' imprison, men, and Burke and Lynch £3O, or twrf months' imprisonment. The police objected to time being allowed. Mr. Dolan, for the prisoners: "It is no wonder the juries let people off whett tilings like this happen." _ His Worship: ?Tt is not a case for time. They are not honest men."
