The trial of Earle Hermann on three counts of forging and uttering yromiai sory notes involving £17,391. has commenced. The Crown produced evidence that defendant had conducted company; formation and. managing investments. In April, 1(114, Hermann discounted three promissory notes with Hermann! Wallrall', manager of Router's banking department, purporting to have beeX sent and signed by a certain Triggs, oi well-known grazier. Counsel stated' that Triggs would swear that the dpcu, mcnts did not represent transaction* with him, and that the signatures were forgeries. Counsel for the defence argued that defendant had no knowledge o£ the promissory notes. He admitted that if lie had, then lie must be guilty. He had knowledge that defendant had been' suffering from a violent type of epilepsy,
