He died two hours c after he was admitted to the Auckland - hospital. ; FOUND ON THE BEACH. Ciisborne, March 14. A drowning fatality occurred on the Kaiti beach some time between 7 and 8 o'clock on Saturday night, which rei suited in the death of James Haimigan, ft married man aged about 45. Hannigan, who was employed by Langlandfl and Stannard, contractors for the breakwater extension contract, was in town on Saturday afternoon in company with t " r Weston, another employee, of the firm. The pair set out for their • home on the Kaiti beach in a gig shortly i- before 7 o'clock on 'Saturday night;' i Preston was dropped at his camp neat- Pa !• Hill, and Ilannigan drove on alone to 1 Ins camp, some mile u«c( a half further ' on. lhis morning Hannigan's body was I discovered dead on the. beach by two | gentlemen out for a walk, while a horse 1 was discovered lying dead across the . h Wits of the overturned gig, some three i chains further on. It i s presumed that' deceased got into difficulties at high and that both man and horse were drowned. Deceased leaves a widow, who resides at Brougham Street, Nelson.
