SWIMMING.

GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL SPOUTS. The annual swimming sports in connects with the New Plymouth Girls' High School were held in the Municipal Baths yesterday afternoon. The weather was fair, and there was a very good attendance. Though the water wa3 rather cold to providp very pleasant swimming conditions, there were big 'fields" in ail the events, and some close finishes were witnessed. The sports were run and controlled bv the teachers and scholars of the school, and the organisation reflected great credit on those responsible, all the events being got off well to time. Misses Cross and Shaw acted as starters, and Misses Livingstone and Drew as judges. The handicapping was arranged by the sports commit'toe. During the afternoon Mr. Schwart, custodian of the baths, gave an •exhibition of fanev swimming and diving. Detailed results:— Preparatory Championship, 33yds.: E. Campbell 1, K. Hempton 2.
