ACCOUNTANCY.
.STUDENTS' SOCIETY. The initial meeting of the New Plymouth, Accountancy Students' Society; was held on Wednesday evening in the Technical College, a good number of students and others being present.' The President (Mr. Hugh Baily, E.P.A. N.Z.) addressed the meeting,' taking fox; his subject "The Advantage of a,Know-* ledge of Accountancy in Modern Busi-> ness," pointing out the disadvantages of' incompetent bookkeeping and the advantages to he derived by the adoption of a proper system. At the conclusion ■ of his address Mr. Baily epressed h|9 willingness to answer questions. This opportunity- was taken advantage of by many present, the replies being, both instructive and interesting. The President was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his able address. It was resolved to hold the next mcet J ing of the Society on Tuesday, 20th" April,, at which short, papers will be. read by five members, discussion being invited on each paper. A cordial invitation is extended to all who are interested.
