Browne, who wa3 defeated last year after occupying the position for some years. A largely-signed petition is in circulation askiwr Mr. Browne to offer his sendees, and he is understood to be willing. Councillors Ambury, Itibby, Jackson, Healy and Johnstone are, it is aaid, about to retire from municipal politics.
