These talentedj brothers have had a. most successful season in Auckland. The press and public throughout four continents have received tlieni with the greatest of enthusiasm. The Sydney Morning Herald of the Oth 'if July-sav.s: "The event of tin evening was Leo Chernwvsky's brilliant rendering of the first Allegro from Tschaikowsky's amazingly difficult "violin concerto in D major." The player exhibited a resonant and sympathetic tone, fluency, in (he correct delivery of the chord passages and harmonics and feeling for the music. Jan f 'herniavsky. who played with sentiment two pieces bv Chopin, raptured the Sydney audience 'in Liszt's bravura parapiia.se 011 the vocal quartet from "Rigoletto," rendered with power, and, where needed, with much lightness of touch. Mischel Cherninvsky showed purity of tone and expression 'in Cessar Cuis ''Cantabi'le'' for 'cello, and proved adroitly skilful in Popper's tricky but piquantV'Arlcquin." These young geniuses will appear in this town on March 22nd, mid there is every indication that they will bo enthusiastically received. EMPIRE PICTURES. * For to-night only a special new programme will lie presented. The mil in attraction is "The Wrath of the God?." According to an old legend, Tova San, daughter of Lord Yamaki, the last mate defendant of an old Saimiri family of Japan, is accursed of the gods and is shunned by all. An old prophet, Takco, makes it his business to explain to all young men that should Toya Sail marry, it would displease the gods to such an extent that the volcano, Sakura Jima, which lias been inactive for over twenty years, would become active. A* American ship is wrecked off the coast and Tom Wilson is rescued by Yamaki, who, in order tii keep Toya San away from the village people, iives alone on the beach. The old prophet, When he hears that Tova San is to be married, tries to provent'it, but arrives at the American mission too late. The sky becomes overcast and Sakura Jima becomes active, throwing out lava, flames and smoke. The village and country is shaken by a tremendous earthquake, Yamaki is killed, but Wilson and Tova San escape and join the American ship at anchor in the harbor. "Feathered Acrobats," is another splen- 1 did film. Xevor lias a more delightful., variety film been screened than ''i'enth-j ered Acrobats." II has a very appealing; quality about it. due, no doubt, to thej exfi aordinarv cleverness of the four per-' formers imd (lie pretliness with which J they act. imd if is quite unique in char-* acter besides, the composition of the lit-,? tie colli),ally being novel, to say the! least. Two cocks and two dogs are the? eel-formers—for although the' principal' I'trfs a;-,, sustained by, feathered aero-1 hats, there is a strong canine clement too. And these four artistes, two by | two, and all toevthcr. do all sorts of ex- i t inordinary things, one of tho special! leaf.ores of r' eh- show being.,a realistic combat. I.ei ween the two principals, in. which '••....11.kk to say, neither suffers ' fhe s!igiifest injury. Other films arc! :ili!ir', Shipwreck." and "A Six Foot Ro- S nian-e" (comedy).
