ALARMED AT INCREASED FOOD PRICES. By Telegraph—Per Press Association. ■ Wellington, Last Night. The triennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants was concluded to-day, and the newly, elected executive council has commenced its sittings, at the end of which the Minister of Railways and the General Manager will be interviewed on a large number of subjects discussed at tho conference. The new executive Wfts elected by ballot of the conference delegates a s follows-.-Messrs. R. Hampton (Addington), R. Moore (Petone), representing the Workshops Branch of tho Department; A. Whisker (TauroaronnfV and D, Wilson (Cliristchurch), toii Branch; P. Barry (Auckland) and T, (.aines (Balelutha), Traffic; and I. Saunders (Dunedin) and L. Geraghty (Aucfcland), Maintenance Branch.

It was unanimously resolved to forward the following motion to the Prime Minister and Piess: "That this larire and representative. conK-ence of failway men views with alarm the rap',J increase in the prices , of commodotiea. and we view with regret the apparent disinclination to grapple effectually with those who are exploiting the people ifi a time cf national crisis; and that the Government be urged to take immediate and effective steps to remedy the present state of affairs."
