DEATH OF A VICTIM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Nigiit. Walter Albert West, who was shot four times Alice May Parlcinsoa(who attempted to commit suicide immediately afterwards), died at th«Napier Hospital this afternoon, without regaining consciousness. The deceased* who received three bullets in the head and one in the chest, was just over 21 years of age. The cartridges used wer* .22 calibre, and none of the pellets were discovered, the patient's condition being too serious to permit of an operation. Tlie tragedy occurred- about 7 o'clock on Tuesday night, and West lingered in an unconscious condition for 07% hours. At 2.30 this afternoon the condition of tlie woman IParkinson was stated to lie slightly improving. An inquest into the cause of the death of West will be opened to-morrow.
