NORMANBY HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

THE SECOND DAY. d LARGE ATTKXDAXCE. t Tlic second (lay's show of the Normanby Horticultural Socety was held in showery weather. _ The attendance was "urge, and there were several visitors from North Taranaki. The exhibits were displayed in'tlie Society's Hall, also in the Town Hall opposite, the latter being re.'erved for cut tiowcrs anft lloral decorations. The display of vegetables was a very fine one. Mr. C. A. lladler, a local amateur, had no loss than (i(i exhibits in this class, and the judges remarked that this was the best collection of vegetables shown by any one exhibitor for many years. ihe display of pot plants by Mrs. I.ovtll (Hawera) and Miss Kihvards (Xormanby) was excellent and the competition for the points prize in this section was keen, ili.-s Edwards securing the prize by a small margin. Mr. F. C. Davis, of Stratford, secured the points prize for cut flowers, his collection of cactus dahlias being the finest shown here for some years.

In the fancy work section the coinpetition was keen, and f' < j; I; es had some difficulty in avar.'.ir.;. prizes in some of the classes, hi the lace exhibit, the following were worthy of spe-ial mention: —Mrs. Murdoch 1, Mrs. H. M. '(Whalen 2, Mrs J. Archbold 3, and Mrs* •I. Carrol li.e.

Paine. _ The poultry showed a slight falling-ofl in t.ie number of entries, biit the quality was better than in recent years. Messrs Stewart and Landsperg succeeded in annexing most of the prizes, also the special points prize and the blue riband for best bird m the show, a black Minorca cockerel, the show of duck-s was a good one, and in this class Messrs »Stcwait and Landsberg secured most of the prizes. 111,, canarv class was poor Heavy buds, all y breed: Stewart and Landserg 1.
