DEMANDS .TOR GOVERNMENT ACTION. Tin- Xortli Olago Patriotic Fund ex ecutive on Wednesday decided to remit another £I3OB to the Belgian Consul at nunedin, ranking over £.50(10 from there. The ?xecutiv also deeided that the flovcrnmcnt be urged to at once make provision to remit Xew Zealand's fair liroportion of any sum that is required from Australasia for the relief of distress in Belgium, the minimum of such quota to he £lo,ooo. At a meeting of the Masterton Belgian Relief Fund Committe-.. it was announced that Wairarapa had subscribed .-ein,!)!).} towards' equipping the first expeditionary force; a sum of £]2oo was also subscribed to Lady Liverpool's fund: the committer lias since been eanv.'wing for the Belgian Relief Fund, and has sent away over .€."000 rn cash, food and clothing. The meeting also decided to lha-W. a systematic appeal for monthly contributions, and Mr A. P. Whatman handed in a cheque for .C.'iOO. Mr W. Kebbell offered £2O per month during the whole period of the war, and many other contributions have also been promised. A resolution was also passed that, a tekgram be forwarded to the Premier, stating that the time '■!!'! arrival when the floverument should take action.
