A MOMENTOUS CRISIS. STATEMENT BY MR TAFT. New York, February 22. Speaking at Morristown, New Jersey, Mr Taft warned his hearers that tlfe United States was now faced with a serious international crisis. The only danger was le3t a Jingo spirit Bhould be allowed to prevail. Mr Taft denounced mine-planting and torpedoing merchantmen as a violation of the rules governing contraband and neutral commerce. If American lives were lost the Go eminent would then be faced with the most momentous event in its history. The United States must sell arms and ammunition to any nation able to purchase them, because if the United States went to war it would require a similar service of other nations. ARSENALS AT FULL PRESSURE. Washington, February 22. The arsenals are working at full pressure, especially the shipyards on the Atlantic coast.
