PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. i ' ' ' Tlio ordinary monthly meeting was held on Thursday at Raliotu. l'resent— J .Messrs. Young (chairmana), Cassic, Hickey, Harvey, and Green.
Kaweora Road—The Hoard n:adc a special order for the Ivaweora road loan of £6OO for draining and culverting from Wiremii road down to the present : formed part of Kaweora road. Pungarehu Road.—Several Xatives waited on the Hoard, and made an oiler to buy the waste portion of the deviation.—The Board decided to consider the legal aspect before deciding to accept or reject the offer.
Damage.—The Board authorised the ! clerk to write to the Council that the ! damage done by the Council's contractors on the blind road at Pungarehu I had not yet been attended to. ' Kina Road. —The foreman was author- [ ised to grade a bad portion of the lower Kina road, costing about £K. | Bequests.—Mr. Johnstone requested the Board to take action to compel a neighboring settler to clean a watercourse, as the blockage in the creek causes the water. to back up and flow over complainant's land.—The Board do. eided to make inquiries. Straying Stock. —Mr. Willcox wrote, complaining of the nuisance caused by straying working bullocks.—The Board instructed that the ranger must put in one week per month in the northern end to abate the nuisance. Vernall Road. —The foreman was instructed to report on the state of the Vernall road, near Mr. Smith's place. FOREMAN'S REPORT.
Tlic foreman, Mr. J. P. Kennedy, reported as follows: » Upper Kahui Road: I liavo been over portion of the top end of this road to the reserve. Up to the present I have not gone on with any work as regards grant to that portion. I have received no information as regards money to be spent hy the National Park Board in the reserve, but will proceed with the work when I receive the necessary information. Lower Kalmi Road: Four nine-inch pipes have "been supplied for the crossing at Mr. Willcox's entrance. They will be nlaced in the course of a few days. I also inspected crossing No. 2, and I might mention that this crossing has been broken down for a number of years. Some little time back this draiu i was cleaned out by the Board, and in the ' ordinary course of cleaning, old timber that had fallen into the drain was thrown out to clear the drain. ■ Lower Kina Road: About 14 chains of road have been formed and metalled with 18 yards of metal to the chafn, also 30 yards of metal have been carted . and spread for repairs on top portion of ' old metal-way between Mr. Malcolm's I and Mr. O'Rorke's. This work is now nearing completion. Upper Kina Road: The cleaning of drains on this.road is now being dpne.
Upper Arawhata Road: I would ask that all drains on this road be cleaned on the same terms as Kina road—that is, that the settlers pay half the cost. Cap e Road: I have been over the top portion of this road, which has been used by the County contractor, and must state that the repairs done by the County engineer are verv satisfactory. ' ' Pungarcbu Road: The Maoris on this road have made a start in clearing the gorse off their frontages. Pipes were sold during the month to P. Willcox, four 12in., also four damaged 12in, at 10s each; WTT'laris, three 18in.
The following pipes were sent out:— Four Oin. to Lower Kalmi road, and eight Bin to Lower Kina road. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £l2O were passed for payment.
