DISTRICT NEWS.
WARE A. (From Our Own Corespondent). A inciting of tile Warea Athletic Club was held on Saturday night. Mr. S. Hale occupied the chair. Owing to the sports date, March 10, falling oil the date of the Territorial camp, the gathering was postponed ttt March 2-1. . Mr. Julian, chairman of the Domain Board, met the sports committee regarding the new Recreation ' Grounds. Mr. Julian said the Board was prepared to spend a few pounds in making the new ground suitable for the sports this year. The following members of the club were appointed to meet I the Domain Board on the ground:—! Messrs S. Hale, J. A. Clark, C. W. RevelT, - t
C. Muir, .T. Ross, H. G. Clarke, H. Larking and C. Magon. ifr. T. Julian's offer to give the timber for chopping blocks, ami tile loan of his bullocks for dragging the logs out of the bush, was accepted with thanks.
The following committee was appointed to assist the Domain Board in putting the grounds in order:—Messrs C. Muir, J. Ross. S. Hale, H. Larking, P. Holmes, C. W. Rcvell, W. West, K, Barriball, E. Harrison, H. Magon, B, O'Brien, P. Taylor, C. Magon, J, Aylward, C. Pierson, A. Jackuish, A. Rooks, J. Robinson, D. Quickenden. C. W. Corbett, and others. Block committee, to work on the ground:—Messrs W. H. uisli and 11. G. Clarke; stepping-the-ehain, Mr. D. Quiekendon; sweepstakes, Messrs 0. Julian, R. Julian, P. Holmes and 11. Pierson; refreshment booth, Messrs J. A. Clarke and S. Hale to make arrangements; ball committee, Messrs R. Julian, B, Warner, O. Julian, W. B, Clarke, 11. Larking, A. 15. Magon, J. Aylward. H. Magon, A. Rooks, E. Magon, J. Robinson, C. Rcvell and H. j G. Clarke; doorkeepers", Messrs C. Revell and H. J. Robinsin.
An honorarium of £3 3s was voted to the secretary for his services during the latter part of last year. The local school picnic will be held on Thursday, ISth inst., with a dance in the evening. The dance that was to have been held on February 10 has been postponed. The weather during.the past week or so was very dry, and things were beginning to dry up. hut we were favored with heavy rain early on Sundav morninf, with showers throughout the day. I understand that the Education Board will make considerable and muchneeded improvement to the local sch<H>l very soon. School will be held in tne local hall while the repairs are being carried out.
