FINED FOR NOT PARADING.

Dunedin, Last Night, i.evernl Territorials appeared in the 1 olice Court this morning charged with failing to render personal service und-jr the Defence Act. An (officer of the Defence Department stated that shortly after war broke out it was announced that there would be no further prosecutions for some time, an] quite suddenly a number of men ceased attending parade. Mr Bartholomew, S.M., endorsed the remarks of the officer that the present- time was no time for a man to shirk his responsibilities, and he must impose fines which would make skirkers ualise their duties and 'harden them up. Four defendants wore each fined f'2 and costs, anothr 10s and costs. Other eas:;s were adjourned.
