ATHLETICS.
—«» ' j THE MQKAU CARNIVAL. To-morrow will be a gala day in Mokau, being the occasion of th« North Taranaki river township's Axe- . men's Carnival. i£" very attractive programme haa been arranged, and has drawn axemen and sawyers well known throughout the Dominion for their prowess. A capital day's sport i», therefore, assured, and when it is remembered that all profits are to be devoted to the Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium Relief Funds, a record attendance can confidently be expected. The committee has spared no pains in the matter of organisation, and there is no doubt that their appeal to the public to "help those who have helped yon, and who have felt the weight of the Mailed Fist," will meet with a gratifying response.
