THE BELGIAN RELIEF FUND.

Tarurutangi is not a very large district, but it has set a fine example for other larger and more populous districts. Setting out with the object of raising £SO as their district's contribution to the Belgian Relief Fund, a very strong committee was formed, and so energetically did they set to work, with Mr G. M. Longstaff as chairman and Mrs R. Street as secretary, that they have been able to hand over the sum of £BO 12s to the fund. The bulk of this was raised at tlie. outdoor fete held o n Thursday, January 28th. In all £95 6s was collected, and as the expenses only amount--ed to £l4 14s, the handsome balance ns above stated was available for the Belgian Relief Fund. The items were as follows: Sale, £47; subscriptions: R. I Street, senr., £3; Captain Allen, £2 17a 3d; Tea Tent, £4 2s Od; Door takings, concert and dance, £lO 2s 6d; euchre party, January 30th. £1 14s. 6d; cushion and painting, £5 0s; doll, £1; fish pond, £2 13s 2d; lollie stall, £3 2s 3d; stepping the chain, 19s; soft drinks, £1 3s 3d; subscriptions: E.
