TARANAKI RIFLE ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL 'MEETING. Tbo annual meeting of the Taranaki Rifle Association was held at the old Drill Hall last night, when Colonel Okey presided over an attendance of about thirty riflemen from various parts of Taranaki. Several outside rifle clubs were also represented. The balance-sheet showed that with the inclusion of £4l 7s lid credit balance from last year, tlhe receipts had amounted to £2lO 7s Od. Expenditure had amounted to £lO7 18s, the principal item being prize-money, etc., £l3O 14s, In moving the adoption of the bal-ance-sheet, the chairman, after expressing his gratification at the number present, remarked that last year's was a very successful meeting, but this year's bid fair to be still more successful. Shooting was one of the most important, ii not the most important, of sports, and any man who qualified as a first-class rifle shot was a valuable asset to the country, especially at such a juncture as fchc present.
