NGMOXT RACING CLUB. .SUMMER MEETING. FiilbT DAY. The weather was fine for tlui opening day of tlie Kgmont Summer meeting. The attendance was well up to that of last year, and the totalisator investments were heavy, the sum of ,tU!),(1:27 being passed through the machine, an increase of .€l2Ol 10s on last year's figures. The racing was excellent, close finishes being the order of the day Winners were hard to-pick, and dividends large. One winner returned his supporters upward of half a century, and Katua, Byron and Te Hon Hou all paid good dividends. Mr C. O'Connor was in his best form at the barrier, and Mr Hartgill's decisions were received without dissent. The Lyric Orchestra supplied acceptable music, but would have been heard to greater advantage if their stand had been better placed. An inquiry into the runing of Toa Tore in the Merenierc Hack Flat was adjourned until 8 p.m. and was still proceeding at 10.30 p.m. Mr. J. Turton and his staff had everything working smoothly, and the lawns and track were in good order, reflecting great credit on the club's caretaker, Mr A. Morse.
