The S.M. found: that the collision was caused by Neil SlcArtliur, tho second mate of the 'Wakatere, misjudging the distance of the position : of the scow, and Committing a breach of the regulations as to preventing ft' collision at sea, and that he was misled by tile loom of the high land. He ordered the mate to pay ten guineas, the costs of tho investigation.
