THEFT OF A MAIL BAG. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. \ Wellington, Yesterday. ' James Andrews and Frederick James Patching were remanded till Wednesday at the Magistrate's Court to-day, charged with having between December , 10 and January 27, between London and Wellington, stolen a mail bag and its ; contents, the property of the New Zea-1 land Government. ' | RABBITS AS FOOD. Dunedin, Yesterday. The principal rabbit-exporters of Dunedin ase of opinion that, in the pre:ent condition of the meat market and the increased demands for food-stuffs in general, the regulations regarding the destruction of rabbits might be temporarily suspended in all places where rabbits can be obtained for freezing purposes. They have accordingly sent a 'telegram to Mr Massey asking that, in view of Britain's food scarcity through ■ war and the necessity of conserving supplies, rabbits should not this year bj destroyed as vermin and that* inspectors should be instructed accordingly.
