TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. I ACCEPTANCES TO-NIGHT. j Horse-owners and trainers are finally | reminded that acceptances for all first-1 day events at the Taranaki Jockey | Club's Autumn meeting close to-night,' at 9 o'clock. The detailed programme will be found in another column. The good stakes offered drew record entries, and as Mr. George Morse has framed his handicaps on equitable lines, ac- i ceptanccs should be very numerous. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The Takapuna Jockey Club's Summer meeting opens to-day. Acceptances for all events with the exception -of the Open Hurdle- Race are very numerous. [ The Takapuna Cup (one mile three fur- \ longs and a half) appears to bear a' very open appearance. Goldsize is as well fancied as anything else, but Phosphorus has been responsible for the best track work, and may prove the fittest on the day. The Stewards' Handicap (five furlongs and a half) will see a big crowd under silk. Simple Sam is in with 8.4, but reads badly as compared with such speedy ones as Kitty Bellairs and Soultane. The minor events may trouble punters somewhat, but Manukau reads well in the Ferry Handicap, and Takanini, Lady Sabretache, Spalperion, Loyal Arch, and Prince Soult may be well supported in the other events. The meeting will be con-, eluded to-morrow. I
