A TYPHOID EPIDEMIC.

TAIHAPE FEELS HURT. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Taihapc, January 27. In reply to the Press Association report from Wanganui as to typhoid at Taihape, it is true that tlie local hospital has five cases, but only one of these is local, the other four being Oliakune patients. The death reported was that of an Oliakune patient. During November there was one case of typhoid in Taihape, and none in December. The health officer reports that Taihape was clear of typhoid last month. It must be remembered that Taihape hospital cases cannot be classed as referring to Taihape, as the local hospital deals with cases over an extensive area. Tt is the only hospital between Taumarunui and Palmerston and Wanganui. The five new cases referred to come from Raetihi.
