Terrified, Adqma endeavours to reach the switch, 013 and stiff, he realises he cannoti make the switch, which is some distance down tho track. Calling Kate, he apprises her, of the situation. She runs down the track and pulls the switch lever, ing the runaway along a sido-track iust as fhe picnic 'train flashes (by. Tfca dynamite car is derailed, and a terrifio explosion ensues. The picnic train come# to ii lalt and the members of the school committee rush to leam the cause of ,iibe explosion. Adas tells them of Kafe'B bravery.
