According to the Giornale d'ltalia immense German forces are traversing Austria for Transylvania, while the Austrian remnant defeated in Servia will proceed to France and Flanders as second line of defence as reserves, and for guarding communications. [Transylvania is the portion of Hungary nearest Roumania and adjoining Bukovina, now occupied by the Rus-
sians.] Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, January 25. Basle reports state that police forcibly prohibited hundreds of meetings arranged to be held on Sunday throughout Hungary to protest against the war and the high cost of living.
