GERMAN INVASION ABANDONED. NO ENEMY FORCES IN CAPE PROVINCES. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received 26, 5.5 pjn. London, January 26. The Press Bureau states tbat the rebels operating in the south-east corner of German South-West Africa have definitely abandoned the idea of invading the Cape Province via Schuitdrift. After the recent set-back to the Union troops Colonel Bonwer, operating from Steinkopf, seized Ramansdrift, and cleared the country of rebels. We now hold the entire line of the Orange River* There Is no enemy on Union territory near the eastern border, and the advance generally has been checked.
