RIFLE SHOOTING.

DEFENCE. RIFLE CLUB. THURSDAY CUP AND CHAMPIONSHIP; At the Rewa Rewa rifle range at Waiwakaiho on Thursday the third series of shorts in connection with the contest for the Thursday Cup and Championship arranged for by the Defence Rifle Club took place under ideal weather conditions, there being very little wind to interfere with tile accuracy of the marksmen. The shooting all round was very gcod considering the lonj ranges, and the new members deserve praise for the creditable scores they put up. All the scores count for both the championship and the Thursday Cup, while the handicaps are those for the Cup. Riflemen Iliggs and Evans were in excellent form with the rifle, and several others made high scores. When the new members get accustomed to the long ranges there is every prospect of their acquitting themselves as satisfactorily as the older members. It should be stated that in one or two cases the handicaps were as much as 40, which would bring the score above 05— tlic limit. Details o! the shooting are as under:
