EAST COAST FIRES.
I - j MORE LOSSES REPORTED. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Dannevirkc, January 20. Fires are still raging in the coastal districts, but the climatic conditions are more favcyable for coping with them. The whole countryside from Puketoi to Waione was to-day a mass of flames, while dense smoke enveloped a large tract of country. In addition to the losses already announced, Messrs Sullivan and Packer, at Waimiro, had their residence destroyed. Fences in the fire-swept area are reported to be strewn with sheep. T.ie loss in this connection is undoubtedly heavy.
