-WOMEN IN THE VAN. GERMAN ARISTOCRATIC AMAZONS. London, January 13. The Daily Chronicle's Warsaw correspondent says he lias seen German women among the wounded, while seven women were prisoners. They had taken part in rifle and bayonet attacks, and one died i' wounds. They were fine specimens of woman, hood, and behaved with the mu t haughty indiU'erenee characterising the German officer. Apparently they belonged to the upper classes. RUSSIANS STILL CLAIM SUCCESSES.
Received H, 8.20 p.m. Petrograd, January 14. Oflicial: Artillery fire and skirmishing occurred along the whole front. We made progress in Kast Prussia und south-east of Mlawa. In the southern area the Germans made an intermittent and unsuccessful offensive. WAR BY PROCLAMATION. GERMANY'S NEW TACTICS. Received 14, 10.50 p.irj. London, January 14. A Petrograd message says: "A feature of the Polish situation is the increasing practice of the Germans to wage war l»y proclamation. The Russians recently occupying positions loimrl posters on the wire entanglements, ashing them to become friends, as the Germans were treating the Russians kindly, supplying them with work, and enabling them to earn money; also offering seven roubles for every rifle delivered to the Germans. A number of Germans came to the Russian trenches with boxes of ''smokes," printed with effusions, declaring that the war was due to a terrible misunderstanding. Captured German officers were found in possession of proclamations, asking the Russians to end the war.
