The House of Brpesentativea, by 204 to 174. refused to submit an amendment to the Federal Constitution enfranchising women, f'normous interest was takefi Women's organisations invaded the capital in crowds. They hoped to establish suffrage throughout the States, instead of working for its adaption in the individual States.
