WHEAT FROM ABROAD.
CANADIAN SHIPMENT LANDED AT AUCKLAND. ", A PATRIOTIC HARBOR BOARD, j By Telegraph.—Per Prees Association, Auckland, Last Night. The first shipment of 511,000 bushels of wheat ordered from abroad by the Government arrived this morning by the Niagara. Mr. C. A. Mathieson, an offl* cor of the (Agricultural Department, is in Auckland to arrange, for the distribu« tion of the grain. The Auckland flarbor Board was prepared, if necessary, ttf store the wheat for the Government frea of cost, but this is not necessary, as applications have been received which will enable the grain to be delivered front the ship's side. Arrangements are in thej hands of the Wheat Distribution Conn mittee, on. behalf of which Mr. Mathie* son is acting. The wheat costs the Gov* eminent Gs 3d, but is to be sold at 5s 9cj per bushel The application forms ig4 sued by the committee state that the grain is prime (Canadian milling wheat, and that it has been imported for the purpose of bread-making. The wheat will only be supplied to applicants who caff show that stocks held are insufficient t<s meet requiremnots. In tho event of larger shipments coming later on thafl may require to be stored, tlic Harbor Board is prepared to aid the Government, by providing shed accommodation gratis*
