Mr Fred Black, the consulting tramways engineer, will he here to-morrow night to confer with tlie Council on matters relating to the tramways. It is understood that Mr F. 6. Preenshields. the contractor for tlio tramways, will be in New Plymouth this week. Mr K. Tillard Xalitsch, who is architect for ihe electric light sirbrstation buildings, and for the tramway ear sheds, arrived last night to confer with the Council after the tenders for the erection of the building are opened. At yesterday's mooting of tfhe Tar.iraki County Council, Mr R. 0. Branch was appointed county inspector out of "0 applicants, Mr Branch, who is 34 years of age, was for eigJit years foren an of ihe Picton borough, and for the lb'st io'.ii' months haw held the same position at Inglewood. The death is reported of Mr Thomas Rankin, m old and well-known member of the Wanganuj telegraph staff. The deceased, wiia lias bee<n t'hirty-st«yen years in the service of the Post and Telegraph Department, had been stationed thero for about twenty years, and was one of ijhe senior officers of tflie staff.
