Following is the High Commissioner's report, under date London, January 7 7.30 p.m.:— Paris reports that in the region of Lille a violent German attack was repulsed. In the Woevre district important progress was made, the Allies now possessing a portion of the first line of the enemy. In the direction of Altkirch progress was made, the French occupying the woods.
