Received 9, 12.30 a.m. Some, January 8. Vienna is actively entrenching, constructing fortifications, and accumulating stores of foodstuffs. The people are told that the supplies are intended to combat the speculation by merchants. HUNDREDS OF DESERTERS. A SALUTARY EXAMPLE. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received 8, 3.35 p.m.. London, January 8. Eighteen hundred Bohemians deserted from the Austrian army during a recent battle in Bosnia. The Austrians recaptured forty, bound their hands and legs, and paraded them in the streets of Budapest, the crowd throwing refuse and beating them with sticks.
