A HOLIDAY HORROR.
WOMAN BATTERED TO DEATH. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Received 1, 9.5 a.m. Sydney, January 1. The body of a woman, Lucy Gorman, was found in a house in Johnston street, Richmond. She had apparently been battered to death. The rooms were disordered, and the bedclothes soaked with blood. There is no clue to the identity of the murderer. A DRUNKEN ORGY. BATTERED WITH A BEER BOTTLE. Received 1, 7.20 p.m. Melbourne, Januory 1. The search of Gorman's house revealed that the tragedy was the result of a drunken orgy.' Empty beer bottles littered the rooms, and indicated that the crime had been committed several days ago. No weapon was found, and it is believed that the victim was battered with a beer bottle, and that after the attack she wandered about the rooms, finally collapsing over the chair where she was found.
